One of the main focuses of
Markover is our hunting cover. The hunting fields have a variety of cover types
including corn,
sorghum and
milo patches, perennial plains grasses which hold up well in the winter and the
low managed brush which is characteristic of upland fields. Low evergreen growth
is also managed to create "living brush piles" which serve as good resting cover
for the birds.
Cover variety and quality is very important to quality hunting through out the season. More open cover is needed early in the year, but as the season goes on the denser covers become more important in holding the birds.

Most of the off season is spent establishing and managing this cover to balance the importance of open shooting areas, with the need for holding cover for the birds.
